I also like the abundance of Saturday afternoon games...makes it easier for me to come up to Philly for games now...

After a 5 game home stretch, 9 of the last 15 games are on the road, and they're mostly away-home-away-home-... Hopefully we are in a position that those game barely matter this year.

Well it is Veterans Day

I think my son is old enough for his first Flyers game this year.

I noticed that too. Must be a mistake...

Of course it is...did they do this last year? I can't remember.

EDIT: just checked last year's schedule - no afternoon games on Veterans Day.

Yeah even with it being Veterans Day it still seems strange to me. It's never happened before (to my knowledge). I would understand it if it were a Monday, but on a Tuesday?

That's OK with me - my company doesn't give that day off, and I'll be able to listen to the game on XM during the day.

07-08 They didn't play on Veterans Day, they played on the 10th and 12th
06-07 They played a 7:00 game on Veteran's Day (Saturday)
05-06 They didn't play on Veteran's Day, they played on the 10th and 12th
03-04 They played a 7:30 game on Veteran's Day (Tuesday)

So I'm guessing this is a new thing.

Ouch Home and Home with SJ? Atleast it isnt back to back days.

Longest Road trip is 6 games, not too bad, for the flyers annual december/January road games.

Holiday matinees must be a new twist this season (or maybe it's just an Islanders thing):

Oct. 13 - Columbus Day: 1PM STL @ TOR; 2 PM BUF @ NYI

Nov 11 - Veterans Day: 2 PM PHI @ NYI

Jan 19 - MLK Day: 1 PM STL @ BOS; 2 PM WAS @ NYI

Feb 16 - Presidents Day: 2 PM PIT @ NYI

Looks like Biron's endurance may be tested early: 5 back-to-back games in the first 2 months (we only had 3 last season).

We have 18 total for the season (we had 16 last season)

Yeah, it will be interesting to see when Nitty gets his first start and if Stevens will do the same thing he did last year and ride Biron like he could save the world.

The Oilers are coming to Philly.

I love the fact they start the season against the Raggers. Start the Raggers off with a loss!

And finish the season with a Raggers loss

they play the Ducks away Im gonna go to the Home Opener

Its funny how they messed up the dec. schedule, dec. 1 is a sun. not a tues. I should know the 1st is my b-day !

December 1 is a Monday on my calendar. And they don't play on December 1 - they play the Lightning on December 2.

Interesting thing about February and March is the close-ness of the games. If you knock out Boston on March 3rd, you have 15 consecutive games where the furthest you will travel is NYC/DC.

They are playing a Pre-Season game there only.

Apparently it's just an exhibition game, but the Sixers are playing a regular season game there. Would be awesome if the Flyers could do it, too though.

There are never any hockey games on my birthday. That's what I get for having an August birthday, I guess!

(Although they did run a Summer Hockey Tournament in London one August, which I went to!)

Anyone have a good idea as to when pre-season tickets would go on sale??? I wanna go to that Spectrum game very badly.

Were you waiting to bring him because the fans are rowdy, or because you didn't think it would be enjoyable to him yet? I started taking my kids when they were one. My little guy is in my sig on the way to a game.

Regular season single game tickets go on sale 9/20.

They expect the pre-season schedule to be released early next week, but have no details of when they'll go on sale yet.
