Yay!! Flockey Hockey!!!

And wasn't Frosty the goalie who used to bark at players who camped out in the crease?

And contrary to popular belief, it was Froese, not Thor, who was the first Flyer to sacrifice a testicle for hockey.

While I'm reminiscing, I'd like to add Big Behn Wilson to the Defense.

Good call. I posted this thread last night at 1:30 am (insomnia), after drinking a glass of some rather harsh (i.e. cheap) brandy, so i was kind of "winging it."

Wilson and Yushkevich would be a formidable pair of hitters if put on the same back-line

My brother couldn't decide who to get on his jersey, I think this was back in like '93 or '94, and I convinced him to get DiMaio on it. He hasn't regretted it since. Although he only had a short stint here, he is one of the hardest workers to ever wear the orange and black.

He'd do better in the league if he played now, because of the new rules. He was here at the peak of clutching and grabbing, but he still managed to skate around like a waterbug out there

Brad McCrimmon was great (wasn't he something like a + 70 one year?). I just didn't put him on my list because he was pretty well regarded at the time. I guess he would qualify as unjustly forgotten though.

Wow...I just looked up his stats..."The Beast" was a +80 in the 1985-86 season. ohmy.gif I was overseas at the time; probably why I don't remember it too well. His worst season with the Flyers was a +19!!

Can't agree on Brian Boucher being good, he may be a good goalie but hes a **** ant because he acts like a jerk. My personal experience was, when my hockey team when we were in Peewee flew all the to Phoenix from Canada to play in a tournement. While we were there, we had the hook up's with Wanye Grezkey because I'm from a town 5 minutes away from Brantford so All our parents know Wayne or his brothers and sisters. So we got to meet the players after there practice an all, we were all get autographs and such, Brian says he is going to put his equipment in his hummer then come back in and sign autographs about 2 minutes later we see his hummer pull out of the parking lot. This personal experience just makes me hate Boucher, but thats just my opinion , maybe he was having a bad day I dunno.

My dad told me about an interview on the TV or radio with Behn Wilson. The interviewer asked "why has your name got an H in it?". He replied "so it's spelt right!"

To **** with him then! He's off the list. I always liked Rick St Croix anyway.

The Realist
Boucher? He's not even a legit NHL player.

Svoboda used to drive me crazy. I have never seen someone go out of their way (to the degree he did) to pass instead of shoot. I know he was not an offensive player, but he could be wide open and instead of shooting would pass to a guy covered by 3 people. Drove me insane.

I can't stand when players have a great opportunity to shoot but pass to a star player who is out of position. You aren't going to get in trouble for scoring a goal (unless you play for Jacques Lemaire)

I really respect that Therien realized he wasn't cut out for the post lock-out NHL and he hung up the skates and is doing well on CSN. I enjoy watching him and his commentary he is much better than Jones in my opinion

I agree, He is brutally honest and I like that about him. Jones tends to "beat around the bush" sometimes as if he's scared to rip players when they deserve it.
Nick
Jones is funny as **** though, my dad and Jonseys dad (Denis) are friends so ive meant Jonesy a few times; he rips players on TSN and always favors the Flyers, its so funny so thats what i like about him.

I think a defenseman with 341 career assists earned the right to decide when to pass.

I'm not so sure you can call him underrated yet. He's still finding his game. Last year could be a total fluke.

That being said, I was pretty annoyed when he was traded because he was pretty versatile, defensively capable, and was shipped out for no other reason than because Hitchcock didn't care for him. That was always my main beef with Hitchcock. If he didn't like your style you were gone. It didn't matter how good you were or potential you had, you had to fit his exact idea of what a player should be. He had no vision other than his own. He's like Andy Reid in that sense.

There were a a number of players that he did not even try to work with at all. He didn't like them he simply banished them to a minimal role until they were gone. Off the top of my head McGillis, Comrie, Williams, and Sharp. Some of these guys I don't miss at all, some I wouldn't mind having back. But my point is Hitch made no effort with them.

I think when you are the "3rd guy" in a dominant line that's going to happen. It's expected and really not that unfair imo because to a degree Renberg was sort of along for the ride.

You're the one who made the statement. Am I supposed to reply to everyone that replied to you? Get a clue.

You tell me to grow up and then call me a "gigantic dork?" Are you serious? Maybe I should come back with "Say that to my face Mr. little internet tough guy!" But I don't do that, it's called maturity, give it a try some time.

Plus you're criticizing a defenseman for being afraid to shoot. Last time I checked, that's not anywhere near the top of the list for things a defenseman needs to excel at. I comment that a guy with 341 assists has earned the right to choose when to pass, and you completely avoid it, as usual.

Thanks for reminding me how pathetic you look when you try to puff out your chest.

Very good point. Looking back now, Comrie(healthy)-Williams-Sharp would be our 2nd line easy.

As far as Sharp still finding his game, get me 60 points and a plus 23 while still finding your game and i'll take it every time.
