Stupid NMC to Briere, why did that smallish little streaky bsterd who's really good at times get a NMC? Gah! He should be traded for Bowie!

Because every summer there is a signing frenzy when players get ridiculous contracts. Fans demand their teams make big splashes in the free agent market (see this board for the past two days) and then spend the rest of the time complaining that we overpaid and are handicapped by the salary cap.

Seriously who would pay that prancing dancing boy Brian Cambell more money than Niklas Lidstrom?

I know that, I just felt like ranting and as everyone else is doing the same over other contracts I felt the need of this thread. (For the information, I never support NMC's under any circumstances (unless it's bowie))

I think its ridiculous to bash the contracts we're currently under, the demands of impact players were filled last off season, and the money looks good compared to what was dished out since Tuesday. Armchair Gm's bishing and moaning makes no difference, I wish Briere didn't have his contract, but than again, if he wasn't here last year, no ECF so you take it in stride. Are we a better team without briere? Thats like saying the Eagles we're better without TO. The answer is no.

Player cannot be traded without waiving that first. So, he is in control of who he can play for/where he can be traded to.

and Briere helped make the Flyers PP one of the best in the league. This year with richards and kimmo on the points put briere , gagne, and knuble/hartnall and we can be a top 1 or 2 pp in league again

Bouwmeester is an RFA this summer, but he is set to become a UFA next summer.

people with NTC can still be sent to minors, NMC people cant

currently 3 d-men have N*C in Toronto (Kubina doesnt now. it comes back mid august i think. he is one of the three). half the spots, taken up with people who have the clauses. they dont deserve them either (well maybe Kaberle..)
