Yeah remember the 2000 playoffs? I thought they were winning the cup that year. Its kinda funny that he and Esche were involed in the same trade, now Esche is gone and Booooosh is back.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that 6’2”, 198-pound goaltender Brian Boucher has signed a contract with the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

“Brian is a good goalie who will add depth to the organization and solidify our goaltending situation,” said Holmgren in making the announcement.

Boucher, 30, appeared in 18 regular season games for the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2006-07 season, posting a 2-11-3 record and 3.34 goals-against average. He had a 1-1-0 record and 3.80 GAA in three games for Columbus after being claimed on waivers from Chicago on February 27, 2007. He registered a 1-10-3 record, 3.26 GAA and one shutout in 15 games for the Blackhawks. He was signed as a free agent by Chicago on September 23, 2006.

In seven NHL seasons with the Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Chicago and Columbus from 1999-2000 through 2006-07, Boucher has compiled a 77-96-33 record, 2.79 GAA and 13 shutouts in 220 regular season games.

In three seasons with the Flyers from 1999-2000 through 2001-02, Boucher posted a 46-38-12 record, 2.45 GAA and seven shutouts in 103 regular season games. He was named to the 2000 NHL All-Rookie Team after winning a career-high 20 games and posting a league-best 1.91 GAA. He was traded by the Flyers, along with Nashville’s third round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, to the Coyotes in exchange for Michal Handzus and Robert Esche on June 12, 2002. He was originally drafted by the Flyers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

Over parts of four seasons (1997-98 through 1999-2000 and 2005-06), Boucher appeared in 77 career AHL regular season games, compiling a 38-23-9 record, 2.76 GAA and two shutouts. In three seasons with the Phantoms (1997-98 through 1999-2000), Boucher registered a 36-20-9 record, 2.88 GAA and two shutouts. He was a member of the Phantoms’ 1998 Calder Cup Championship Team.

Awesome. I loved him when he was in Philly.

good for the phantoms I guess. blink.gif
ROMANO
nice move for depth. if nitty goes down he will be a decent back-up, but his days of being a starting nhl goaltender are over.
Gagne12
Hopefully he can come up to the Flyers.

So far I might agree with that..except for the york trade...just horrible and now the coyotes are paying him 1M...why?
BrindamoursNose
Really doesn't mean anything to me... he's going to be a Phantom, only up in the NHL if Niitty or Biron gets hurt.

I loved Boucher! I still do! But, I think it adds a lot of depth to our goaltending position. Biron and Nittymaki are one of the best 1-2 tandems in the league, and Boucher as a emergency goalie is better than Scott Munroe, or Michael Leighton

wow this is just weird to me. on the bright side if there is some sort of disaster and boucher is forced to play for the flyers theres always a chance that he'll have one of his streaks of incredible, unbelievably talented goaltending. on the other hand theres a much better chance that he'll play like an AHLer which is what he really is.

Good for Brian. I liked him!

Welcome back, Boucher. It's just the Phantoms, but good for the depth.

I remember that. I was 6 or 7 when that happened but I remembered thay the puck wouldn't come out and they had to get him a new mask.
swflyers8
No guy like Neil Little to mentor these young guys so Brian fits the bill.

Yeah I was 7. Boucher was my favorite goalie. I was upset when the Flyers got rid of him. Didn't he get freaked out and throw his mask off?

Haha. I just found this. Looks like Elias has trouble beating Boucher.

One of my friends claims it's really bad luck if a puck ever gets stuck in your mask... Maybe that had something to do with it. We all know how supersticious goalies are.

BTW, my friend is a goalie, but he could still have made that up.

Maybe. It's too bad his career went down the drain. How old is he now?

i have a feeling that Boucher is going to be in the phantoms for one simple role. To assist in developing Martin Houle. So he'll have the "Neil Little" role on the Phantoms. Houle has a very promising future and with the help of Boucher, he can get even better
Dancin' Shawny
I never heard that bad luck thing. But the same thing happened to me and I got injured that season which eventually led to me switching positions. Hmmmm....

Ha! Go figure...

I think it was Ron Hextall who had to have meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and corn before every game... I'm pretty sure it was him, anyway.

Superstitions are HILARIOUS!

Yeah, I guess the key is to figure out a way to predict the hot streak.
Good news for the Flyers, but great news for the Phantoms.
Just imagine how many shutouts Boucher could tally up playing against AHL players if he gets hot.
Where the **** is Wheeling? And why are we sharing an ECHL team with the Penguins?
