bernie#1 recommended something like this in the Joffrey Lupul appearance thread and since nobody else made one i figured i would do it.

so if you hear of any Flyers players appearing anywhere post it here.

incase you missed the thread, Joffrey Lupul will be at the BC sports in the new cherry hill shopping center on November 30th. tickets are $10 and you are guarenteed an autograph if you buy a ticket. www.bcsports.com to buy a ticket.

I'm a Hockey fan, a Flyers fan, but there is no way in _hell that I'm going to buy tickets to a signing event. Whatever happend to just signing autographs because you appreciate the fans, or to a "local" store hosting the event to bring in potential customers, not making you a customer just so you can go ...

I think what ruined that is people go to these event's to get thing's signed to sell, and the player's decided they want their cut up front. I never really understood the whole getting player's to sign stuff thing anyway, I'd go to these event's to meet the player, but I won't pay for that.

It now says Jonathan Matsumato will be appearing, I guess because Downie was called up to go on the road trip with the Flyers.
IkkiTousen
Good to see Bill was able to get another guest. I was looking forward to the interview. But I'm looking forward to Downie's NHL debut even more!

I drove to Cherry Hill on Friday to get Carter's and Richard's autograph on a stick for my son's Christmas gift. I live in the Lehigh Valley, so it's a decent drive.

I got there around 7:40 and they were gone (they were supposed to be there from 6-8). At least I got to drop some toys off for Toys For Tots (but I could've done that closer to home). And I did get a blank puck signed by them on each side. They shouldn't schedule to be there for a certain period and leave. It was very disappointing to drive from Allentown, PA to Cherry Hill, NJ specifically for that, just to find out they left early.

That sucks. mellow.gif On the one hand, you did get to drop off toys (but as you said, could have done that closer to home), and you did get a signed puck. But you wanted to get your son's stick signed, and meet/greet the players themselves--the whole point of driving so far in the first place. And you got there before 8pm. Wonder why the left early? How was the crowd when you got there?

There was actually only a few people going in and out (which may be part of the reason they left early. It seemed to be poorly publicized. I only knew about it because I heard a quick commercial for it on the radio during a Flyers game. It may have been busier at 6, but I had to drive home to the LV (I work near Philly) then back down to Cherry Hill. I'm not completely upset about it, just pretty disappointed.

Any chance you can snag a signature or two after the game tomorrow, or the one on Saturday, this way you'll have it before Christmas ?

Ikki is pretty good at that "after the game" stuff, maybe she has some pointers ...

That would be awesome. I don't have tickets to those games (at least not right now) but I would consider going down just to get the stick signed. Any pointers would be good, I haven't stayed after a game for autographs in years.

I heard they were only there for 45 minutes and then they left due to a "team meeting". I doubt that they had a meeting though....

That's exactly what I thought....

Some lady the next day at practice asked Cote if there was a team meeting. I forgot what he said exactly but it was something along the lines of HE didn't have one, and he didn't know about the rest of the guys.

Yeah. It'd be an odd time to schedule a "meeting, " if that was the case. I am sure the organization is made aware of these appearances? I don't know how the turnout was; if hardly anyone came I could see if they decided to cut it short. (Not saying that is necessarily right...) I dunno what to make of it. But interesting.
