Like....8%, or something close to that if i believe. Could be wrong though.
Just found this on wikipedia, don't know how accurate it is though:
"The majority of the company is owned by NHL players Sami Kapanen and Kimmo Timonen. Kapanen is the majority owner, controlling 50.5% of the franchise. Timonen owns 8%."
Oh, and this is from the IIHF site:
"NHL forward Sami Kapanen, who owns 50.5 per cent of the shares of KalPa and is also chairman of the organisation, will help the team on ice, looking for a brighter future. ... He also spent the lock-out season there, together with Kimmo Timonen, who controls eight per cent of KalPa’s shares."

That's true. He's the biggest single owner of the team. His father also sits in the front office and his brother is their goalie coach.
Oh, and Jussi Timonen plays for them.

my pick would be timonen above all else. hes one of the oldest players on the team and has some of the best experience, also some of the most experience. i think he shwoed exceptional leadership skills last season and could do nothing but better the self discipline of our young blue line...timonen all the way.

I would love to see Richards as the captian, but I honestly think he was being sincer when he said he wasn't ready. I could be wrong, & it'd be great to see him with the C, but Kimmo has to be my [2nd, realistic] choice based on Richie's comments at the end of last season!

That's what I remember hearing. Now we just have to see if he stays true to that, & actually names one, or if it takes him longer.(Like the start of pre-season, or even the regular season.)

While there has been some thought to naming a Flyers captain before Saturday's start of training camp, it doesn't look as if that will happen before the season begins.
"Right now I would say that we will not have that in place before the start of the regular season," general manager Paul Holmgren said yesterday. "It's a big decision and we want to make sure we make the right choice."
This is the same way the Flyers handled the decision last season, when coach John Stevens held off naming Jason Smith the captain until the end of the preseason. Smith now is with Ottawa.
Stevens has said that Simon Gagne, Kimmo Timonen and Mike Richards are among those being considered. All three were assistant captains last season, but Gagne was limited to 25 games by a concussion.
Timonen is the most veteran of the group and was captain of the Nashville Predators before being traded to the Flyers in June 2007. Gagne was offered the position in the 2005-06 season when former captain Keith Primeau was suffering from extensive concussion injuries, but he declined it.
Richards has been a leader on the ice since coming to the Flyers in 2005 and last year was a dominant player in a year in which he established himself among the best young players in the league.
"[Richards] will certainly get a lot of consideration, but there are other players we are considering as well," Stevens said recently.
Richards always has been unassuming when asked whether he would like the captaincy, and he continued that stance yesterday.
"I'm not too sure what they're thinking," Richards said. "I'm trying to prepare for a season right now and right now is not the time to be thinking about it.
"I'm focusing on getting in good physical shape and preparing to compete and I'm not worried about things you can't control or are not as important.
"There are a ton of guys in this locker room who can lead this team. [Smith] was the captain last year and did a great job of it, but it was a total team thing with the guys that we have and the trust we have for each other. We don't always look for one guy, we look as a group."

I don't mind Richards & Timonen being considered, but Gagne? I think he best fits Assistent captian.
That might just be me though!
I don't like waiting until the beginning of the season to find out, but as hooligan said it might be best to wait. This way, whoever the new captian is can concentrait on shaking off the rust, rather then having to deal with the pressure of being the new captian && shaking off the rust at the same time.
I Like The Flyers A Ton
Sep 17 2008, 02:39 PM
I think it should be rather Richards or Timonen, because we don't even know if Gagne will be healthy enough to play more than say 20 games or so. This has probably been said over and over, but this is only my 2nd post ! My pick would definitely be Kimmo over Richards.

Wow, amazing. Suprising actually, considering an article I read on Yahoo Sports (posted today actually) stated the Flyers would probably not have a decision before the regular season started.
"Right now I would say that we will not have that in place before the start of the regular season," general manager Paul Holmgren said yesterday. "It's a big decision and we want to make sure we make the right choice."

No, I don't think Danny was shafted. I think he was certainly deserving of one, but Gags is the longest tenured Flyer and is a leader and Kimmo is just as much of a leader as Richie is.
