Why does everyone here want to trade Upshall? There is noway i'd move him. He has a bright future ahead of him and I just don't see the Flyers moving him.

I have a rather large mancrush on Scottie Upshall. If we traded him, I would probably punch the closest baby.

I don't want him traded and I was just saying, with Downie gone, I think they'll re-sign Upshall.

Ill give you two reasons:

1) We have a surplus of up and coming forwards along with our set in place top 9, if you look at our roster currently, you have richards, carter, gagne, hartnell, briere that are our set in stone forwards. then you have JVR probably making the club next year along with Giroux, thats about 7 guys that really are going to be hear for a while, then of course you have the lupul, knuble, upshall, metro ect that are in that up in the air so he kind of becomes of expendable.

2) Secondly, like you said he has a future and is a good fast impact player that teams might want, and we need defensive help or a goaltender, so he could be a player to make a deal to bring in a real good veteran d man.

He's a keeper hands down.

If you want a D-man, can't we just move a 6 pack of beer, a pass to chickie and petes and a bag of pucks and a used hockey stick for a guy like Phaneuf or Lidstrom?

I don't necessarily want to move him, but he's certainly not untouchable. I wouldn't be shocked to see him moved if Homer really wants to shake up the roster and send a message.

I don't want him traded either...he has more personality and is less of a cap hip than Lupul...his name is also far more fun to say when he scores...and he's not bad on the eyes for the ladies (or the men who are secure enough to fess up to it )

I don't want especially him traded but we have a surplus of forwards & prospects at forward. We're less stacked at defense and goal. If we are going to keep improving, we have to give up talent to get talent in return. The numbers game, no movement contracts, etc. all come into play. It would be great to keep them all and add pieces needed but that can't be done.

No freaking way. Keep Upshall. Love that guy,Its about cap limit. But IMO his is ALMOST Carter at one third. Keep him 100%. Last games, great backchecking too (albeit not so great offense). Anyway , this guy has talent and will.

Scottie can and will improve his physics a little. Apart from that, hes got it all. He will be a puckstealer/takeawayer when he gets a tiny little bit smarter (experienced) too.

I can't wait to see if the cap goes up after this year. Only thing Danny honestly can be used for (which is was the Sabres style) is breakaways. Have I ever never seen any more exagerated and hyped than Briere. Lol. Just plain stupid. Trade Upshall because he's got hands of stone. He skates around in circles, throws meaningless body checks that don't slow don't the opposition, and he rarely scores, because he can't hit the side of a barn. He hasn't really improved in the time he's spent with the team and is unlikely to turn into a scoring sensation.

I'll take your outrage about trading upshall and send it back with this: Why do so many people here fall in love with players instead of root for the team? Maybe there are a lot of younger fans who haven't been through many iterations of the team, but I've seen hundreds of players come and go since the late 70s. I don't care who is on the team if they're winning. If trading upshall (and carter and richards for that matter) bring us a cup, then do it.

It's about winning, not about celebrity worship.

It may go up, but it's not going to up that much and in the future it could decrease if the economy doesn't change.

Upshall has a small cap hit and he's better than his trade value, so I'd like to keep him. I wouldn't have a problem moving him if it meant we'd get a solid d-man, though.
