Moose, thats incredible. I really want this to happen this year. But I doubt that there will be that many on broad street now a days and how not popular hockey is....
but who knows.

I guess they didn't sell jersies back then...

It looks wierd to see a crowd of people showing support for their team wearing regular clothes...haha

They did sell jerseys back then, but they weren't the 'fashion statement' that they are today. If you watch the tape of the Cup game from May 19, 1974, you'll see a few jerseys in the crowd.
I remember having a Flyers jersey in '74-75 but I only used it when I played street hockey.

Ohh, if they win, I'm sooo going to the parade; even if I have to walk!

(I can't go to today's, but I'm
NOT a
HUGE Phillies fan, so it doesn't really bother me much; however if it were the Flyers, I'd be crying because I can't go!

That sounds so pathetic, but it's true!)

I think this city would erupt if we won two championships within close proximity. Hockey is not as popular a sport as it used to be but I think Philly is still a good hockey city.

I'd only worry if it was the Eagles next...there are a lot of really hard-core fans, and 48 years of pent-up anxiety. Not a good mix for a controlled victory celebration.

It was Orange with Black lettering, the lower corners had team logos, Phils on the left and Flyers on the right ...

Interesting comparison I just came up with:
Last season: Phils & Flyers were both surprise teams to make the playoffs, and both eventually lost to the team that played in the Finals (Phils-Rockies; Flyers-Pens).
This season: Phils win championship. Flyers ?
I know it's a reach, but...

I think we need to make one move on D before that happens. As good as we look in the offensive zone, it 's pretty ugly back there when the other team is on the attack. That second Isles goal last night should never have happened.

I like that attitude from the Flyers because winning is contagious and I think seeing a championship in the city they play in will make them even hungrier. The Phillies were my first sports love, but I couldn't help but imagine what it would like to see a sea of Orange.
I truly believe the Flyers are next. I don't know if they will win in 09, but I am sure we'll see a parade at least once over the next 3 years.

I think a Flyers parade would still be huge. For those of you who live in and around Philly saying that hockey is not very popular anymore, I can say that hockey is much more relevant in Philly than it is in NYC and surrounding areas. For American hockey markets, Philly is still about as good as it gets. Hockey and the Flyers have a very special place in this city and it would take a lot to change that. The only parade that I could see being a disappointment would be the Sixers. I know they're getting better but they've become the least popular team over the past few years.

I think the parade would be huge for the flyers. Just because people would want to go celebrate. Come on we all know there were a decent amount of people at the Phillies parade who didn't know who the Phils were 6 weeks ago if you get my drift

Mine too.

I am torn on this entire topic. On the one hand, it is cool that they are inspired or whatever by the Phillies winning. But, man, they are professional hockey players. They should not need any more inspiration to win a Stanley Cup. It is all they should be playing for! I guess I don't care what inspires them, as long as they can get it done...
I enjoyed Knuble's interview. He was really happy for the fans and the Phillies, but seemed sad that it wasn't the Flyers that "beat the curse".

FookI remember reading Lupes lips & hearing him say the F word in one of the Devils games (I believe it was the OT home game we had against them.) He was "crashing the net", & Brodeur put his glove over the puck, & covered up. That apparently ticked Lupes of, cause he just literally yelled "F***!!!!!" & then proceeded to skate back to the Flyers bench.
All I can remembe thinking is "If I can
BARELY hear him, the kids sitting in the first row, right behind the glass, had to have heard him!"
I'd say
HE might be the one that would end doing the "honors!"

I like the Phillies, but I
love the Flyers. Those two teams are the only two I'd go to the parade for. And now that I've been to a Phillies parade the Flyers just HAVE to be next!
Who will be the one to pull an "Utley?" I think it will have to be one of the quiet ones with the good boy image, just like Chase has. I'm thinking Briere.
