One more poll just to get a feel from the gallery.
Ok...There are 77 games remaining (154 points available) I am just as shocked and dismayed by this start as most of you are and find this start inexplicable without getting negative so I'm going to try to see the glass half full. My question is how many wins will the Flyers need to get into the playoffs this year??
A.) 37-40
B.) 41-44
C.) 45-49
With the level of talent in the East this year I'm going to say B but it could be C.
I think this team can do it however they must start now. We have the talent! I think we can make the playoffs but we have dug ourselves a hole.
What say all of you???

Why did you make a poll that isn't an actual poll?

I don't think you can call 5 losses as a hole, they'll rebound from it.It's not as bad as it looks.
Another reason for that is the team have played tough teams straight from the beginning and still battled for the win in every game(except vs Avs).
Offtopic a little bit^^
I say C,and that Philly will get there too,but it's gonna be close again in the end.

Well approximately how ever many wins it took other teams to get into the Playoffs over the past couple of seasons.

Your question is flawed; it should be how many losses will keep them out of the playoffs. Carolina last year had 43 wins and missed the playoffs because they had 33 losses. The Rangers had 42 wins and made it due to only having 27 losses.
The key is to minimize losses. More than 30 and they will most likely miss the playoffs.

Last year it took 94 points to make the playoffs. The Flyers had 95 points and 42 wins. I believe they will need around the same number so I'd say around 41-44 wins.

Uh.. I'd like to see them make the playoffs. I said B in the poll. For right now... 1 win.. 1 win will make me happy. THen we can build the other 40 or so after that.

let's see. 77 gms left. 42 wins 27 losses 8 OT pts = 92 pts. Add the 2 OT pts we already have and we should sgueeze into the playoffs with 94 pts. There is only one reason this tean cannot reach this mark. That reason is the flawed coaching of John Stevens. Also the fact that we have suspect defense and questionable goaltending, underacheiving forwards, salary cap issues, injuries, etc. Yeah, I think this mark is attainable if we get a 6 or 7 game win streak going now and maintain a 2 to 1 win/loss ratio for the rest of the season. Surely, this isn't too much to expect or is it!

It's only B or C if you allow for the welfare point from the shootout. I'd rather not have to rely on those. My guess is you'd need in the mid to high 90s points wise to make the final 8 in the East. No pressure, .750 from here on.
