Kind of a dumb post but this has been bothering me forever. Is it just me or does it seem that Gagne never celebrates when he scores? Gagne scores, doesnt smile, doesnt show any emotion. Gagne is the man and one of my favorite Flyers so I have nothing against him I just wish he would celebrate when he scores once in a while. Its awesome to see Danny do the fist pump when he scores everytime cool.gif Thoughts?

I don't like showboating. Some of these guys act like they scored the OT goal in game 7 of the Stanley cup finals, even if they are down 5-1 with 3 minutes left in the third period.

When Gagne scores, he acts like he's been there before.

How could he possibly celebrate when he knows he's playing for a team that is arguably the worst in the league right now. I doubt Gags expected to come back with a 5 game losing streak to start off, especially when we went to the ECF last year.

I wouldn't be happy if I was him either, he's been one of the only players other then Richards and Briere keeping this team together.

Hes been doing that for years. Not just this season.
dudebrah87
Yeah, I know. But I'm sure it's not making him any happier now. This team has been playing catch up almost all season. It can't possibly be a good feeling.

That is true : D

I don't think that celebrating a goal is showboating. I think it just shows that the individual has emotions and is intense about the game and winning. Many times a guy that doesn't score the goal is more excited than the guy who scored it. And remember, it's a game. If scoring doesn't get you excited, what does?

that was a great game but it reminds of the goal before hand. primeau ties the game in the last minute to save our playoff hopes. and the f'ing wachovia center is going MADDDDD. it's one of the most memorable goals in flyers history and it's the playoffs... and the arena music manager dude, plays the f'ing chicken dance b/c it's the 4th goal.
Mike Richards is Better
haha, i know exactly what you mean. when he scores its almost like he makes an effort not to look excited

Ah memories...I was sooo fortunate to go to that game. I will never forget how awesome the excitement of that game and the fans. It was AMAZING! It really broke my heart when we lost that series to Tampa.

Also, this really makes me miss Primeau sad.gif

Yep,he's just a professional.
Would it be better for him to celebrate like Ovy after each goal he scores?I understand that Ovy has a passion for the game and he loves to score, but after every goal he's jumping around the ice like he's scored a game 7 winning goal in the SCF.

As a player and one of the leaders on my team, I don't celebrate goals when we are losing unless it is a tying goal. I try to send the message that we still have a way to go. Maybe he does this?

I agree with all of this.
Flyershooligan
gagne is all business, hes more concerned with the team winning to celebrate his own personal success, the old play for the logo on the front not the name and number on the back routine

i think some players around the league are starting to celebrate too much these days

side story-during the first round of the playoffs, i believe after victorinos GS off of CC, there was a picture taken of shane running the bases with his hand up, pointing number 1. another player on the team got a print of this picture and placed it in his locker on the door and wrote J Reyes(jose reyes - Mets) under the picture. Victorino has really toned down the celebrations since then, on and off the field. in an interview after we won the alcs the reporter asks "you seem fairly calm after this are you excited" victorino responded" yes i am, i am very excited, but we still have work to go, oen more step to go in the world series so im gonna hold back a bit"
