Player trade...Lupul, Jones, Nodl, and a first and second round picks to the flames for Dion Phaeuf. Only joking, but I would love to have him on the team, even though they would never trade him.

Maybe if we offered Gags, which is a real possibility, i had this discussion in the GDT thread, if we make a move i think it will involve gags, but it all depends on how big of a move we'd be willing to make.

Doubt any changes will come,it's only 5 games into season.
And besides, guys starting to find eachother on the ice..Maybe shaking the line-up,but that's it.
PS.Phaneuf would be a good addition ,defense isn't so good right now.

Gags straight up would do it, but I really wouldn't want to get rid of him. If they were to trade him though, it would definately be for a big name defenseman such as Phaneuf.

I don't think this is the answer. We have a serious "system" issue. Last year we gave up way to many shots on goal. Last night we gave up like 45+ shots to only like 15 for us. 1 D-man will not change this. Teams are walking across our blue-line like its the US-Mexico border. It is ridiculous. We need a system over-haul quick.

im not a stevens hater by any means but his system is to old school flyers hockey. we arent that big bulky team anymore that needs to cycle....
i think we need a new goalie as well, think the rags would be willing to give up val?

i think some sort of coaching change will be made. it just seems that our system is obsolete. teams are forechecking so aggressively and we can do nothing to stop/remedy that. idk if Stevens will get fired, but we might see a bit of a shake up as far as strategy goes.

I wouldnīt be surprised... I mean, heīs young and all. Maybe in five years or so heīs developed into a good coach.
Honestly, I donīt think Homer will do anything dramatic just yet. If this goes on, however, heīll be forced to. If that involes a coach change or a trade, I donīt know. I think this team has a capacity to play better than weīve seen so far and if Homer believes that too, he should look for a new head coach soon.

Actually they made the playoffs in 2006, but exited rather quickly. 2006-2007 is the year you're thinking. No way we go thru that again. Tho these long term injuries on defense are really hurting.

Oct 19 2008, 06:06 PM
I said they will do nothing, but the fact of the matter is we can not afford to wait for our defense to get on track.
I love Gagne, but he cost us that last goal in OT. Yes, he is off to a good offensive start, but our top scorers are not our top defenders. As far as I am concerned, everyone but Sbisa, Richards, Briere, and Gagne is trade bait.
Top people to move... if we can find a taker:
Lupul: not only is he not producing, he looks slow and out of shape, and he isnt putting out an effort.
Eminger: Just is not getting the job done. Having puck control problems, making bad decisions, and is a friggin sieve in his own zone.
Downie: Bad penalties, no offensive contribution... yes, he is checking hard, but we can not afford a defensive role player who makes bad descisions as to who and when to lay out and can not reliably clear a puck.
Biron: For obvious reasons
Metropolit: same reasons as Downie
I know some might take umbrage at my listing of Sbisa as untouchable, but the kid is 18, and yes, he has made mistakes, but he is playing hard... and the rule is in Philadelphia, 'If you are gonna screw the pooch, do it at full speed and as hard as you can." The kid is hustling, he is hitting hard, he is not taking dumb penalties, and he has an abundance of raw talent.
I know I listed them as non trade bait, but I would even consider moving Richards or Briere, most likely Briere, if we could get a true top notch defense man. One of the possible trades out there is with the Predators. They are struggling offensively and need a 1st line center. Briere would fit them perfect. Add in Eminger. In return we get Legwand and Shea Weber.

Oct 19 2008, 06:12 PM
I think we'll get rid of Knuble and maybe some sort of draft pick for an alright defenseman.
And whoever said to get rid of Briere, simply no. He leads the team in points. Him and Gagne are going to destroy it this year. He wasn't playing his role last year, but now he is.

I am hoping Richie's post game reaction will spark the team and they will get their sh*t together. Richie clearly hates to lose, and that feeling has to start running through the whole team. Richie is still the best choice for captain, I wouldn't like to see any one else in that position right now.
