Now it's coming up black 'n blue as another defenseman will likely go under the knife. Randy Jones has a labrum tear in his right hip. He told reporters today, in his mind, surgery is the only answer and Holmgren didn't disagree even though Dr. Thomas Byrd, the hip guru from Nashville, will make the final decision.
You can book it. Jones will have the surgery and miss 6-8 weeks just as Parent will have surgery next week to his right shoulder and miss at least at least 12 weeks. Jones want to play pain free by Christmas and if he has the surgery now, he'll be able to do that.
“Surgery will be the best thing to get this fixed and take away all the pain and the groin issues and everything else,” Jones told reporters after practice.

we're losing depth here, but i never liked Jones so i can't say this upsets me. so i guess we'll have lines like
Timonen-Coburn
Vaananen-Sbisa
Eminger-Kukkonen
maybe we'll pick up a d-man off the waiver wire. possibly bring back Berard. i'd hate to see Kukkonen get significant time to screw up again.

Man, what is going on with our D? I guess it's looking better (or worse, depending on how you look at it,) for Luca staying here this whole season. While that worries me, I guess we don't really have a choice. He's playing great, & if he can keep it up, it might cover up for our 2 down D-men right now.

I'd rather have Jones then Kukks in there. I dont know why but I never really been a big fan of Kukks. How'd he look in the preseason? Hopefully better from last post season.

Lol, but Sbisa has no NHL experience, it'll be a pretty dicey situation sticking him in. We don't need injuries etc.

Kukkonen has looked a lot better, I believe he can play well this year.
Obviously, I'm worried about our depth. I was never too happy with it and now with these early injuries are making it look worse. I don't think we can afford to play catchup in our division.

I think Jones was better than Kukkonen last season. I haven't watched enough of the preseason to make any kind of judgment there. Although I don't think either are game breakers I don't like the idea of Sbisa logging important minutes at the start of the year. He's got talent, but he clearly has maturing to do.

Kukkonen was held back last season because he was in and out of the line up then they paired him up with Modry who helps the other team more then his own.

To the idiot cheering on Jones' injury: That's exactly what you are. An idiot. I'm glad you get joy out of a grown man's journey through injury, surgery, and rehab. Keep up the good work........
To the topic of the thread: This is a shame. His experience, though minimal, will be missed. He was a playoff participant and will be needed to calm down the rookies on the ice. And honestly, he's deserving of the #2 pairing. I don't feel very confident with Sbisa and Eminger, but I guess we will have to make due. Who knows, we may bring Berard back (I would love that move right about now).

That's correct. They said his name will come off the roster after Saturday's game. (By off the roster, they mean you won't see his name on the website roster anymore, unless he some how makes a meraculious recover, & comes back to the team.)

this is concerning. Although im not the biggest randy jones fan, this leaves us extremely thin on the back line. Some people are going to have to step up *cough* *cough* (eminger and vaananen) and this really leaves some questions to be answered when the season starts. How are we going to do with a very raw defensive core.

I'm 21 years old and wasn't watching football when Irvin got hurt, so I don't really care what you say. Regardless, you're a tool for cheering on an injury and this whole "you're city is worse" argument doesn't negate the fact that you're an idiot and have no class. And I never said cheering injuries was a Canadian thing to do. I said that they were ignorant, and you were only perpetuating that by enjoying a player's injury. Again. Idiot.

So you are a classy guy because you didn't watch the game when Irvin got hurt? If you are going to badmouth all of Canada for being 'ignorant' I can put you in the same class as all those classless Philadelphia fans and trust me your lone city has as much dirt on it as my entire country.
Don't even try to talk like you are some class act because you are as classless as I am for that idiotic response you wrote and the one you followed it up with. Congratulation you really showed me how classless I am with your classless response to me.
What about the other guy who praised the injury? Is he a Philadelphia native? If all of Canada is ignorant because I like that Jones isn't playing wouldn't he speak for you also?

LOL, I am quite the classy fellow. I am so classy, that I stick up for those who cannot defend themselves from classless idiots. I am the epitome of class. Classic class here. Class is in session. See? I can use class many times in an argument and come off intelligent. Either way you shake it, you cheered a player's injury. Some day, when you're not high from the smell of your own fecal matter, you'll notice that cheering for a player's lack of health is stupid and plain wrong in the grand scheme of things. But that's OK. You keep trying the whole "i have more class than you" argument; I'm just going to drop it at this point.
