Comcast SportsNet, the region’s leading source for sports coverage, today announced that as of October 11, 2008, all Flyers, Sixers and Phillies games on Comcast SportsNet - home and away, regular season and playoffs - will be broadcast in high definition for the first time. Comcast SportsNet currently produces all studio-based news, pre and post game coverage, as well as home and select road games in high definition.

“Our goal has always been to bring fans closer to the action and by delivering all home and road games, plus news and pre and post game programs in high definition, Comcast SportsNet once again fulfils that commitment to our viewers,” said Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia President Stephanie Smith.

“For the Flyers and Sixers fans who can’t personally attend our games at the Wachovia Center, there’s truly no better way to watch our games than on Comcast SportsNet,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. “We’re very excited that Comcast SportsNet will be offering our fans high definition broadcasts for all of our games, both at home and on the road.”

Comcast SportsNet has been the HD leader in Philadelphia since February 15, 2003, when Comcast SportsNet broadcast the Flyers-Hurricanes game that day, making it the first locally produced high definition content in the Philadelphia region. In March 2004, the network began producing all home games and select road games for the Flyers, Sixers and Phillies in high definition.

During the 2008-09 season, Comcast SportsNet will air 64 Flyers and 69 Sixers games, all in high definition, beginning with the Saturday, October 11 Flyers game vs. the New York Rangers and the Wednesday, October 29 Sixers game against the Toronto Raptors.

The bigger, the better I always say. I have a full sized Stewart (about 204") and a large Vutec (I think it's around 120", I don't use it much) in the theater area, and a Qualia 006 in the family room. The rest of the rooms have smaller flat panels, nothing exciting.

what kind of setup do you have in your theater and who installed it for you? im in the home theater/automation business...always curious

???

You have to have an HD cable box. Not sure how much Comcast charges monthly for that, I jumped off that ship a long time ago.

what do you guys mean by widescreen was horrible? i have been watching all of the games in HD on a 16:9 50" plasma. the picture is great. the only problem I had was with them putting some games on CN8 and not being HD. I made a thread about it and also included a link to a form where everybody could complain. I hope they don't do that again this year.

I believe the CW games and most of the away games last year were shown in widescreen format, but were standard definition.
