Also, Niittymaki for Luongo (p1)

I don't understand how any of you can say "I hate sundin, don't want him"
Salary cap wise, it won't happen. However, if we could get this guy without giving up huge assets, could you imagine the damage he could do with someone like Briere and Gagne? Good lord.

Personally, I don't hate him. He's not one of my favorite players, but I wouldn't mind having him in a Flyers sweater if it didn't mean getting rid of young talent in order to afford him. But, as I said, with the salary he's going to get, and his age, I feel he's overpriced. I don't think the Flyers need any part of that.
P.S. Congrats on the Mod promotion, Pat.

I agree with if he comes here I don't want to have to lose any young talent or pay him a ton of money.

I admire Sundin but don't want him. The cost in terms of movement to fit him under the cap is too high. Adding Giroux this year and JVR next will put us over the top. By then we clear Hatcher's salary also. I hope nobody was serious about the Sendin twins. Big publicity stunt when Burke traded to make sure he got both. A bit above average in play but far from a Flyer style player. I'd have loved to have Shanny a few years back and wouldn't mind him now but if any moves are made, I'd rather find some defense.

It depends on who we would move. If we moved young talent for a top defender like Bouwmeester I would do that and sign Sundin.

Canadiens would make the most sense but I dunno how under/over the cap they are. He's not going to play in Vancouver because they're not really a contender, and I doubt he'd play for Ottawa/Edmonton/Calgary.

I agree. Sundin is 37!!! Gomez is only 29. The Rangers have one of the worst managed teams in the NHL (within the big city/older franchise groups). If they do this, then it just confirms that they aren't ever going to change their stupid "win now" ways.
If everyone had a GM like Homer, the league would be a different place.

Hahahahaha! Would you be willing to bet on that? I'd be more than happy to take your cash, because it's simply not going to happen. And you can count on that. Sundin isn't going to continue to play if he's not offered an increase in salary. Say all you want about him wanting to win a Cup. But you're only fooling yourself when you say that.
