Not sure I know what you mean by "didn't have a lot of detail". Care to elaborate on that? Imo, NHL08 was the best NHL release as far as realistic gameplay. And arguably the best NHL release as far as the feel and the control ability of the players.
There is definitely a lack of detail. No hats on a hat trick. Didn't show the three stars come out it only shows them in the menu. No facial expressions(I would've liked to see some expression) The bottle doesn't pop. Sometimes the way a player shoots and pass is a bit unrealistic especially when the stick doesn't move. Also there is no net above the glass. Which I understand it's so it doesn't get in the way of the camera but even when you put it on different camera angles the net is still not there.
Bit unrelated to gameplay but I also wish you could start a franchise with more than just 1 team. Also there is no "playoff mode" which out of all things I've mentioned before this none of them bother me except this one.
I had a little problem with the physics of the game too. I mean when a 160 pound Kris Russell can absolutely destroy Dustin Penner on every play with a hipcheck thats a bit unrealistic. BTW Kris Russel is seriously a really good defenseman in real life. He is small but I've seen him push around guys twice his size.
Just little things I still enjoyed it and haven't actually played 2k8 because to be honest it looks like trash. No need to get defenseive about a game I just thought it could've use more detail. It's like a turkey sandwich without the Mayonnaise. Still good but put a little mayo on there and it could be better.
P.S. since this is a pretty long post I'd just like to add that I have no idea what IMO means.
