They probably didnt have time to before they got the game out to change Potulny and Syvret to the proper teams?? Possibly? Or they keep the 2008 roster without the complete trades?????
If you read, or look at the rosters, Potulny and Syvret are on the same team(Edmonton's farm team). Potulny was moved, but Syvret was not. It's simply because EA isn't competent enough to make sure they get their rosters at least as close to correct as they can before their release. This is nothing new.
And no, they don't just keep the 2008 roster at their release. This should really be obvious by just looking at the Flyers roster alone if you have any clue what their 08-09 roster looks like. Most of the moves that were made in the off-season have been completed. But, again, they've made a number of mistakes. Again, nothing new.

Updates could come online??? For roster changes/fixed?!?!?! Someone Email Electronic Arts about the rosters?
Yes, updates will come in an online roster update. But, as has been already mentioned, it won't happen until rookies play at least one game on their NHL team. EA has nothing to do with this. They can't place these rookies on their NHL teams until this happens because of their NHLPA licensing rights. Email EA all you'd like. It will be a waste of your time, and won't be able to change a thing.
EVERY year EA releases an NHL game, there are roster errors. It's inevitable, and expecting it to change will only continue to disappoint.
Have patience, and the updated rosters will be released in due time. But don't expect them to be perfect and still not have errors. It will. Period.
On a side note: Those of you expecting Giroux to be in the rosters already don't seem to realize what EA can and can't do legally with their rosters. Giroux didn't play on an NHL or AHL squad last season. And for that reason, EA isn't licensed to have him included in their game yet. They don't have licensing rights to include players from the QMJHL in NHL 09.

yeah nhl 2k9 blows. i got nhl 09 when it cam out first day and it is probably the best game i have ever played (despite the rosters). just look at all the reviews online, that should paint a pretty good picture. nhl 2k9 comes nowhere near nhl 09 in the reviews. just play be a pro for like one game. you will be addicted.
Agreed. I've played both, and 2k9 comes no where near the quality of NHL 09 as far as gameplay is concerned. Neither game is perfect, of course. But 2k9 is miles behind NHL 09 this year.
