Personally, I'm really glad they made Richards pretty good compared to other players in the game. I remember in 07 when his rating was pretty lame. He's getting good recognition now. I didn't look too hard at many of the other players but I did notice they made Gagne pretty good too. They don't have overalls yet but I think it might be the average of all the stats.

Scott Hartnell is underrated IMO.

Maybe a little but not that much. 20 goal scorer 50 point guy right? Brings some toughness and physical play. Average defensively possibly below average. Not that underrated. I'd give him anywhere between a 79 to a 82

The answer to the other half of the question would be September 9th, 2008.

On another note, rating look mostly right... Richards is a tad underrated, though. For the Pens, however, I will go through every player and say if they are over or under rated and why. smile.gif

Staal: For how he did last year, looks pretty much overrated across the board. Wrist shot accuracy 80? Really? He missed the net more than he hit the net last year.

Letang: Looks mostly right, I might bump up his speed just one or two and his deking a little bit.

Malkin: Mostly right, but I have a small issue with his shot. Only 90 power for his slapper? I'd put it 95 at least.

Kris Beech: Who cares? But he looks about right.

Cooke: Don't know too much about him, but looks good enough to me.

Dupuis: Right expect for his speed, he's one of the fastest guys on the Pens.

Eaton: As usual, tremendously underrated. He's one of if not our best shutdown Dman, does all the little things right.

Fedotenko: Once again, not a guy I'm that familiar with, but looks about right.

Gill: Fine. Except for maybe his speed is a little high laugh.gif

Godard: Fine, except maybe a bit fast as well.

Gonchar: Good, but up his slapshot accuracy a bit, he has one of the best in the league.
tbird97
i think briere is finally accurate
PensFreak
Accidently posted that early, so continuing from where I left off:

Orpik: Good, don't think I'd change a thing. Except maybe his checking up a bit.

Satan: Looks fine considering how he played last year.

Scuds: Fine.

Sydor: A bit over rated.

Sykora: Wow, they screwed up here. Sykora has one of the best shot on the Pens, and his shot is rated lower than Staal's. Also, his speed is higher than Malkins'. Raise the shot, lower the speed.

Crosby: Mostly right, but I might bump his speed up a bit and take his shot power down on both his Wrister and Slapper.

Talbot: Underrated. It's too bad there is no heart or effort rating, because Mad Max would have 99's there.

Whitney: Mostly right, but his slapper is not that hard... it's rated lower than Gonchar's and the same as Malkin's.

Richmond: I know nothing about Danny Richmond, so his stats are probably about right.

Kennedy: Fine.

MAF: Under rated for how he played the last half of last year. For the last half of last season, he was the best goalie in the league, bar none.

Sabourin: Over rated. He's Dany Sabourin, I'm not sure he can be rated low enough. Except for his breakaways, he's stellar on the shootout.

Fini. Any comments, post 'em.

Yup. The new one sounds so awesome. You basically have an online hockey MMO you can play. It's the first sports game to ever do that.

I'm excited for it. laugh.gif

I know. I mentioned there's no overall yet. Probably won't have one until the game is released.
PensFreak
It'll be BS if Crosby and Ovechkin don't have the two highest ratings... in 08, like 5 or 6 people have higher ratings, Iginla, Thronton, Niedermayer, Pronger, Lidstrom... I can't think of anyone else. I could see them both being 96 or 97, or maybe Sid 97 or 96 and Ovechkin one lower. And Malkin one or two lower than Ovechkin.

apparently Mike Knuble has the best Wrist Shot on the Team and Carter and Eminger have the Best Slapshots.

I still wish they put more effort into the crowds. I remember in NHL 04 when you had cut scenes of fans eating popcorn and such.

The ratings look about right. I think that Richards should be an 88 or an 87 though.
youngdaniel48
Richards should be a little bit higher...87 or 88 as mentioned before would be about right.

+1 on the crowds. I never really feel the atmosphere of a real NHL arena in these games. Something is wrong when the crowd reacts the same way to a Stanley Cup victory as they do for a meaningless goal in a random regular season game.

Also, I wish they'd put some effort into customizing the arenas. They get the center ice painting right, but the rest of every arena is just plain and generic with the exception of a few different seat colors.

aside from having a wrist shot no better than dowd and kukks. ashams got a better wrister.
howcome none of them are coming off of back to back 30+ goal seasons? wink.gif

Stll dont understand why Knuble has the best wrister on the team or Why Carter has the best slapshot he never takes slapshots he just fires off laserbeams from the top of the circle

I was mainly hoping they would make Biron better, but it doesn't seem like he'll be much higher than an 81 like in the last game. sad.gif Oh well, i'm still buying it.

Something cool you can do for your arenas though this year is upload music to the game and choose what songs play when you step on the ice at the beginning and during whistles and stuff. I'm pretty sure I read that. It should be cool. I know I haven't mentioned much about the game because there's too much to say but this game will be revolutionary. NHL 08 was callled the best sports game last year. If you're interested read some of the article on IGN.com.

I was hoping for the same thing. I traded and got Leclaire in net and put Biron as backup because Biron let in way too many softies. They definitely shafted him as far as making him a good goalie in the game goes.

Sykora has one of the worst on the Pens. I don't even know how you can screw this sort of thing up this badly.
ericmedc
Hatcher should have more then 90 in positioning. That's the only thing that makes him valuable and I can't think of a D-man with better positioning in the whole league.

Also, no way in heck that Biron is more aggresive then Niitty

And how about this!

At the end of every two seasons in Dynasty Mode you get to create a new jersey for your team. It can be a home, away, alternate, or even a 4th jersey. You also have the option to just stick with what you have.

Lidstrom? Chara? Regehr? Mitchell? As good positionally at the very least. Also with dallas I recall Ken Hitchcock playing him infront of the net on the powerplay a lot. I don't know if that ever happens in philly. Anyways what I was actually gonna say was did anybody notice that nhl08 didn't really have a lot of.....polish? Like when you get a hattrick theres no hats and it doesn't show the three stars come out. The bottle doesn't pop and you can't make a franchise with 2 or more teams.

I hope that your joking...Biron has atleast one fight in his career, not mentioning going after crosby during a few of their games.

I don't think any of those are better then Hatcher in positioning. Don't say they're bad though...

Yeah, he got some time in front of the net when Knuble was hurt after the Shanahan incedent I think. At least he was used there some time last year

Birons Overall Average is an 84 when you plug all the stats in. Thats alittle better than NHL08 he was soo bad at 81.

Richards Overall Average is an 87 when you plug the stats in. Thats good to see he was only an 82 in NHL08

Danny Briere's Overall Average is an 80. Thats a big drop off from NHL08, He had a 86 ratting. His Overall is down 6 points.

My biggest problem was with brieres Wrist shot accuracy. It was an 87 in NHL08. Now its a 60...???
Thats a -27 point drop off from NHL08. How is that possible??? He scored 31 goals last season and had a better shooting percentage from a year ago when he was on the sabres... thats just not right.

thats really messed up. his season wasnt so bad it deserved a 6 point overall drop and the 27 point drop in wrist shot. like you said...he scored 31 goals, and most of them im sure werent slap shots. Hopefully the adjust it before the game comes out

Oh. That would be inaccurate though. Overall rating isn't the average, you can achieve a 99 rating without straight 99's. Certain ratings boost the overall a lot while others hardly affect it.

i have a fealing its a miss print
theres no way they can be giving him a 60 and hatcher having a 55
and downie is listed as 75 i think. it has to be an error

and you could always just change it in edit player before you start your franchise if you want to
