Exactly. At this point in his career his mind has got to be a little weird and I'm more worried that all these concussions are going to his head. Like what happens if he snaps on ice and just about kills a player! I don't know, I just worry that Gagne will be a danger on ice these days. Like I agree, I really like Gagne as a Flyer fan and as a person but I just worry about his health and start to think that he should hang up the skates for his own well - being.

But I guess Gagne knows his body his best and I trust that he'll know when to stop.

I'm not worrying that much yet, I think maybe another concussion and it's time to sit down and talk to a doctor of the problems he could face later in life if he gets another one.

Yeah, maybe it's too early but I'd just rather see the same side of Simon that all us Flyer fans have before, not the hurt and half - assed version. Their was also a interesting read in the THN Mag a couple days ago and it was talking to this one player who was having concussions like Simon and he was saying tha he'd try and hide some from the doctors (which worked!) and this player ended up getting tasered & pepper-sprayed as he ended up physicaly attacking a few police officers and I just don't want Simon to take that road.

That may be the most annoying color to read (other than dark gray or black).

Agreed, I sent the poster a PM asking them to consider a brighter color.

Jeremy Roenick admits to having multiple concussions and hiding them from coaches and look at the year he had last year. Everyone is talking like Gagne is some looney bin that's going to go off the deep end and hurt someone. Gagne is my favorite Flyer but I will admit that I think he more on the softer side as a player and will not play if he is hurting. He would tell a coach he is not ready to play. Roenick is a much tougher player.

"Everyone" is? I guess I'm reading a different thread than you are. I only see one person even bringing something like that up.

Jeremy Roenick was lucky. Simple as that.

Well we have Klotzlover and hesh who think he is going to snap and you don't sound optimistic at all. Some people need to just let the season start and give him some playing time and then decide if he is still the same Simon Gagne. Some people just overreact sometime.

Lol. Am I required to be optimistic about Gagne? I'm being realistic. That's all. I'd love to see him capable of returning to his old form and helping this team succeed. But the truth is no one knows if that'll be the case until he shows us. What part of that isn't saying "let the season start and give him some paying time"? Saying that no one knows isn't saying I don't want to see him succeed. No overreaction at all in anything I've said in this thread.

I didn't say it was you. We will just have to wait and see. Hey, did you see him on Comcast last night or read the story on the website? Nice set of wheels he has...lol...

it's a good one too.

but we'll still never know until october.

I hope he's OK and can be the player he was. And, as some one that spent his life working on cars, nice ride he's got. I personally prefer classic cars but hey, Barrett-Jackson might not have had anything happening when he got that urge.

Understood.

Yes, I read that article. It's nice to hear he's in good shape. And it's especially nice to hear that watching from the press box has given him a new appreciation of the game. Many times, when a player is forced to watch from a press box, they see things they weren't capable of seeing while on the ice playing or on the bench. They're often able to see when players aren't giving their all, or are taking nights off. And many players that have a genuine love for the game get a new hunger in their gut for the game when they go through something like Gagne has.

Again, it's nice to read these things. But none of it changes the fact that only Gagne will be able to show us whether he's capable of returning to form. I don't believe any of his training has involved any contact drills at all. Those will be the first big test for him, and will tell us all a lot about his capabilities.

I think he started skating in Quebec a few weeks ago, maybe he had some contact there. I saw something on TSN and I thought I saw others skating with him.

We must be paying him too much to afford a $300,000+ car. I can understand a $300,000 house that will probably increase in value, but a car that will depreciate? No wonder athletes have no $ when they retire. With the concussions, his end could come sooner than later. This is one of the reasons people are losing interest in sports.

Where the heck can you get a HOUSE around here for 300k...

That'll be the day when an athlete getting paid as much as Gagne is living in a $300,000 house.

Huh? When you make 5.25 mil a year, $300,000 is nothing. Depreciation or not.

I never said he was gonna snap. I said that if the flyers really did let Simon Gagne back on the ice before he had recovered then shame on the flyers. Than I said Roenick was lucky to have been able to play through those concussions and still know his ABC's.

Actually, a Lamborghini usually appreciates, not depreciates. The bad part is you can only run them anywhere near capability in Europe. NA speed limits.

you don't have to work on cars for a lifetime to know that car is nice.

anyway, i'm optimistic that gagne will be healthy this season, and be back to his old self.
